The Challenge
iiyama, known for their high-spec tech, tasked us with creating a piece of ‘product showcasing’ content for ISE 2022.
All of their products have their own key selling features, which was something we wanted to work into the content, but with some fun thrown into the mix - hence, the idea of the 3D fruit machine was born.
Our Approach
The fruit machine concept was a perfect way to highlight the key features of iiyama’s latest products, all of which were symbolised with vibrant neon icons - including some funky Japanese style symbols to highlight their heritage. The idea was that the fruit machine would pull and spin, and depending on which symbols it would fall on, a certain product with those features would then display itself. Then, once the jackpot was hit, the machine would explode and fly towards the screen with a big ‘iiyama branded’ finale.
The Detail
Like most of our projects, we kicked the process off by piecing together a storyboard to show how the content would work when spread across an 8K-wide canvas.
We put together all of the sequences that the fruit machine could possibly fall on, to show what would happen when a product sequence lined up, as opposed to dead spins, or hitting the jackpot.
Then with the idea being a winner, we got to work on creating the content in Cinema 4D and After Effects, for a 32:9 dual screen canvas, as well as a single screen setup.
The Results
The 3D neon fruit machine looks stunning across such a high-resolution canvas and proved to be a huge success in drawing attention to iiyama’s products at such a huge event. The content will go on to be used as a demo point in iiyama showrooms.
