Enhancing the Digital Experience at Bristol Airport
As the ever-impressive 14m x 2.5m digital wall in Bristol Airport’s security zone continues to be a huge focal point of passenger engagement, we recently got to work on adding a few new enhancements to the content. With 5 million pixels to play with, this digital canvas offers huge possibilities to really wow those passing through the terminal.
Understanding the need to elevate the passenger experience, transform the surroundings, and subtly promote the Bristol Airport brand, we developed two new campaigns. These campaigns leverage the incredible digital wall to create immersive experiences that connect travellers with their destinations and highlight the offerings within the departure lounge.
The Campaigns
A window to the world
Our first campaign, “A window to the world," transforms the digital wall quite literally into a window to iconic destinations. As we virtually travel from Paris, through Amsterdam, to Rome, the content showcases direct flights from Bristol Airport to these bustling cities.
To enhance the illusion of stepping into another world, various 3D elements come to life, while railings at the front of the composition cleverly connect the digital content with the physical space. Elements of the destinations appear as though they’re fly towards viewers creating a life-like illusion.
Floating bubbles
The second campaign, "Floating bubbles,” features the key brands available in the airport, all in bubbles, drifting through clouds. This whimsical content highlights the offerings available in the departure lounge. As passengers transition through security, they are greeted by playful, floating logos that introduce them to the dining and retail options available to enhance their travel experience.
Both campaigns emphasise the illusion of content emerging from the screen. By matching shadows and lighting to the environment, we ensure a seamless blend between the digital and physical spaces, creating a captivating experience.
The strategy
Following our initial strategy, we crafted these bespoke digital campaigns to serve unique purposes. From creating a sense of place to connecting passengers with their upcoming destinations, our content aims to both soothe and entertain. The artistic elements help ease the nerves of anxious flyers while engaging those who wait eagerly to travel.

Keeping things fresh
With the ability to easily update content, Bristol Airport can continuously refresh the digital wall to target customers throughout the year, promoting new facilities and new destinations, all while finding new ways to enhance the passenger experience.
